I have been using Toast for years, successfully duplicating the many DL DVD's I have created from video, until now with Toast Titanium 10.0.8 (Just updated to 10.0.9 w/o fixing) Burn with Disk Utility instead of Toast if that works. Edited Apby tsantee I realize you're in no mood to waste more DL discs, but I wonder if it would make a difference if you first created a disc image and then burned that using the Image File setting in the Copy window. A DL disc I burned from a DVD-Rom (UDF) disc image on my 3.33 Ghz iMac this week using the "Best" speed burned and verified without any problem. I cannot agree that Toast 10.0.8 won't burn DL discs with OS 10.6.7. Your conclusion makes sense but the same problem isn't happening on my system (at least with my Firewire drive because I never burn discs with the built-in drive unless I'm doing some kind of testing).
I question that the issues are system or drive related since I can take a disk that Toast threw up on and proceed to burn it with out a hitch in Burn. Happens with Verbatim DL disks and RiData DL disks (Mind you I'm always skeptical of this box of RiDatas). Happens both with the internal Optiarc 5680H and external USB OWC Valueline Drive (I believe this is a samsung of somesort but the OS only reports the bridge). My disk burning needs have become less and less while Toast has become worse and worse, with high priced yearly upgrades on top of it.

I've begrudgingly paid for almost every upgrade since version 6 but this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I'm thinking 10.0.8 is somehow incompatible with 10.6.7 which is mighty convenient now that they have ANOTHER paid upgrade. In fact I can burn the disks with Burn fine so somehow Toast is boning up. These are Verbatim Disks, have not previously had an issue. I've been getting the Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST error on all DL disks since updating to 10.6.7. Just curious if it has anything to do with the amount of space you have left on your computer when you try to burn a data DVD. You may whether or not those discs are well regarded for their reliability. There you'll see a hot link that you can click to go to a site where users submit reports on specific media. I suggest inserting one of those discs and choosing disc info from Toast's recorder menu. Memorex DL media is known to be troublesome but there are many different formulations within any brand. The drive sends the error message to Toast and it passes it along.
